A Celebration to Ourselves

Let's take a breather! We've all gone through a great season. I'm referring to the American political season!

We elected the first African American President - Barack Obama. In doing so we broke the back of a long, long dark night in the history of American life.

We deserve to give ourselves a hand. We moved the progress of civilization a great step forward. So, go out get yourself some flowers, throw a party, buy a new dress, a hat, a pair of shoes, get a hair cut, do your nails, listen to Coltrane or Miles, Vaughn or McLachlan. Just celebrate!

Think of it this way: Most of us may not live to see the fullness of this change but, we made it happen on our watch.

Celebrate!

Yet I Stand...

I am not supposed to be here, counted out, sold out and acted out... Yet I stand.

Rejected, despised, and called "the ugly thing", "the creature with no soul or brain", still I marched on without glitter or gold, as foretold... Yet I stand.

Without them knowing I really did fall, but only to my knees to make that humble call, to only that "one", that "force" stronger than man and, this is how... Yet I stand.

When my body is finally here no more, my words, and my work has reached that "all I can" only then will it be certain that... Yet I stand.

Just Moe...
